      Shipping day for this painting on the left and als Shipping day for this painting on the left and also my birthday. Laura took this in the studio, the posture inspired by a photo of Francis Bacon we saw recently.

The painting, “purple joy brown green” is happily going to Bologna for my solo show, “Prudent Triangle,” opening next month.

Unless I’m inventing the memory, I think I first saw that Bacon photo in an exhibition in Nanjing, among other pictures of him in his studio. That was already 6 years ago. Seeing it again I wanted to know how old Bacon was when the photo was taken, but google image search only revealed that the picture had recently been used to demonstrate cluttercore — his studio is fantastically stuffed with materials. Nothing about age except the faint appearance that his hair is dyed. In my studio, which looks anemic in comparison, all the mess is out of frame.
